Atlanta, GA – Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced Major General Richard “Dwayne” Wilson as the incoming Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard, effective May 4, 2024. The Governor congratulated Major General Wilson on his new position, highlighting his service to the state and Armed Forces. Governor Kemp expressed his anticipation to collaborate with Major General Wilson to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Georgia.

Governor Kemp also extended his congratulations and gratitude to Major General Thomas Carden, who will be taking on a new role as Deputy Commander of the United States Northern Command/Vice Commander of the United States Element, North American Aerospace Defense Command. Major General Wilson, who has been serving as the Assistant Adjutant General of the Georgia Army National Guard since October 2020, will be succeeding Major General Carden.

In response to Major General Wilson's promotion, Colonel Jason Fryman has been selected to fill the role of Assistant Adjutant General for the Georgia Army National Guard. Governor Kemp expressed appreciation for Colonel Fryman's dedication to serving in this new capacity and looks forward to his contributions in the leadership role within the Guard.

Major General Richard “Dwayne” Wilson brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various senior leadership positions within the Georgia National Guard. He has a commendable military background, having participated in numerous operations and earned several military awards and decorations. Major General Wilson's educational background includes degrees in Criminal Justice, Management and Leadership, and Strategic Studies.

Colonel Jason Fryman, the Chief of Staff for the Georgia Army National Guard, also boasts an impressive military career with a diverse set of leadership roles and decorations. His educational achievements include degrees in Organizational Leadership and Strategic Studies.

The appointments of Major General Wilson and Colonel Fryman signify a new chapter in the leadership of the Georgia National Guard, with Governor Kemp expressing confidence in their abilities to continue serving the state and its residents with dedication and honor.
